Spiritual healing is the process of revitalizing your inner-self in order to bring out wellness. When a person is stressed out, the body releases hormones that are harmful for health. Meditation can help in calming one's mind thus minimizing the hormonal release. It also improves one's immune system thus making a person healthier. How great is it to have a way of life where meditation is built into your day in the form prayer. The Salaat calls us 5 times per day to help us reconnect to the ONE who created us.
Think of your prayer area or mat as a charging station for your mind, body, heart & soul. We need to connect and refuel our spirits, so not to be overcome by daily stresses. Our life stresses affect our spiritual body and then the stress is manifested in our physical body. We usually treat our physical pains but do not pay attention to the real cause. It has been proven that meditation helps in coping with stressful situations of life. So why don't we take advantage of Salaat? Why does it become a chore instead of a relief. The longer we remove ourselves for prayer and spiritual healing the sicker we become. With our busy lives and living in a world that is primarily governed by materialism, it is very difficult for people to fully grasp the concept of spiritual healing. Everyone is so caught up in the rat race to realize as a people we are suffering and very sick.
Without the strength, we can only get from connecting with our Lord, we are left feeling fearful & weak, constantly worried with doubt, anxious, and no true ambitions. Also, it makes us feel emotions that may not be our own but rather those around us because negative energy can rub off on us throughout the day. The Salaat is a protection and the best way to rid ourselves of the harmful toxins and energies we come into contact with. For example, you may go to work happy and in a great mood but you find yourself becoming angry and frustrated as the days moves on. These emotions aren't necessarily yours but rather the the negative energy and emotions of people you have come into contact with you or the stressful work environment. I can't even count the days I have gone into work saying good morning with a cheerful smile and received grunts as greetings in return. There's also times that I am faced with difficult clients, this too can affect my mood. Alhumdulillah, I have the honor of breaking 2x or even 3x during my work day for a personal meeting of praise and prayer. A time to rest my mind and restore my positive emotional energy. Salaat elicits the relaxation response, along with feelings of hope, gratitude, and compassion —all of which have a positive effect on overall well-being.
Physical, mental and spiritual health, all the three are deeply intertwined and have a profound effect on one another. To be vital and healthy you need to have a spiritual life. We need to have values and beliefs which we live by and strive to achieve. These values must be integrated into our work lives, home lives and social lives. Our spirit is our essence. And it also tends to be the one thing we neglect the most. We have to make time everyday to feed our spirit. When we take care of our spirit we find the path to our authentic self and ultimately to living the life we were intended to live. This is ‘Spiritual Health & Wellness’ in a true sense. Always remember that spiritual healing can take place throughout each day when you stop to pray.
The Prophet said: “Allah the Almighty said: I am as My servant thinks I am. I am with him when he mentions Me. If he mentions Me to himself, I mention him to Myself; and if he mentions Me in an assembly, I mention him in an assembly greater than it. If he draws near to Me a hand’s length, I draw near to him an arm’s length. And if he comes to Me walking, I go to him at speed.” - Sahih Muslim
“Those who have believed and whose hearts are assured by the remembrance of Allah . Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allah hearts are assured.”

The Messenger said: “There lies within the body a piece of flesh. If it is sound, the whole body is sound and if it is corrupted, the whole body is corrupted. Verily this piece is the heart.”
